About Luka The Dog

Vera and Luka  

Vera was born and raised in Croatia, and came to the United States in 1998 to escape war in the war torn ex-Yugoslavia. Initially, she settled in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she pursued studies and graduated with a degree in Finance at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She taught yoga for five years at the community centers there, and without any previous knowledge about dogs, in 2004 adopted Luka the dog from the Lied Animal Shelter.

Luka is one very smart mut (mainly Finish Spitz) who became Vera's most loyal companion. In 2007, Vera fell in love with Professor Miller from New York City and together with Luka made a cross country trip and relocated to Caroll Gardens, Brooklyn.

Luka, Professor Miller and Vera enjoy taking long walks in Prospect Park and visiting the Brooklyn Heights Doggie run.
